PROMOTING HEALTH AND WELLNESS: A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING AMONG METRO DENVER'S CITIES AND COUNTIES

The Metro Denver Health & Wellness Commission (MDHWC) and members of the Metro Mayors Caucus (Caucus) are taking strides to reverse this trend at the city-level, in order to achieve the shared goal of making the metro Denver region “ America ’s healthiest community”.  32 of the mayors gathered to assign the memorandum of understanding (MOU) that commits their municipalities to implementing a minimum of six programs, policies or environmental changes to support healthy eating and active living in their respective communities.

HEALTH INSURANCE PRODUCTS AS A WORKSITE WELLNESS TOOL: WHAT’S CURRENTLY AVAILABLE IN THE METRO DENVER AREA

The MDHWC Insurance Committee conducted a survey of health insurance carriers to determine what wellness insurance products are offered in the Metro Denver Area.  Health insurance products incorporating wellness programs and incentives may be tools for employers to use in promoting a healthy workforce.  The MDHWC's Healthiest Worksites Initiative encourages local employers to adopt worksite wellness programs. To view a final summary of the results click here.

Survey reveals school board candidates’ positions on student wellness

The MDHWC Schools & Early Childhood Team and Children’s Health Foundation recently surveyed candidates for statewide school boards to gauge their positions on nutrition and physical activity in schools. To download the October 24th 2007 press release discussing the results, click here.
